RITCHEY DESIGN HISTORY

Over 50 Years of Design Innovation: Tom Ritchey is one-of-a-kind. He continues to juggle his duties as president and lead designer of our company, which now has products distributed in over 40 countries – and he still logs at least 10,000 miles per year all over the world.

Inspiration often comes to him while out on a ride, generating ideas that he then processes as three-dimensional design images – in his head. This is followed by the creation of initial concept models, many of which he creates by fillet brazing pieces or scraps of frame tubing. It all comes naturally to a guy who taught himself to build frames as a teenager, and who designed some of the burgeoning mountain bike industry’s first frames and components back in the 1970’s. Every year Tom guides our R&D efforts in pursuit of both subtle improvements to existing products and large-scale advances leading to new ones.

It’s rare that an item as simple as a grip can be considered iconic. When the Ritchey True Grip was first released, it quickly became the go-to choice for mountain bikers around the world.

Now Ritchey bike grips have expanded to multiple models, featuring different compounds, shapes and widths to accommodate all riders, regardless of their category or discipline.

SPANK has been manufacturing Precision Crafted Gravity MTB Components since 2002.

SPANK INDUSTRIES is one of very few brands of its size in the world, with in-house design, development, and manufacturing of our complete line of unique and exclusive components.  We do not outsource the manufacture of our designs to industrial scale factories.

The aircraft-grade aluminium frame is pressure forged with 6,000 tonnes of strain to assure strength and decrease weight. To achieve the performance, the TALARIA electric powertrain is used, which combines a highly effective permanent magnet synchronous motor and a masterfully crafted gearbox for a smooth and powerful ride.
